“You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something – your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life.” ~Steve Jobs
This is me, beginning my ascent from a drop-back backbend that I have been working on for quite a long while now. It is huge exercise in trust and faith. Trust that my landing pad will be there, that my arms will hold me and that I won’t fall on my head. Faith because I can’t see when I drop back; I have to allow gravity to take over and believe that I am ready and strong enough to do it. Trust and faith also come into play on the way out of the back bend. Trust that I can lift my chest and torso enough while leaning into my legs enough and faith that I won’t fall on my head or knees.
This picture was from my last (and best attempt) this morning, but before I went over backwards, my mind was screaming, “No! You don’t want to do it again because it’s hard!” I shut my mind down and listened to my spirit which said that I could do it again and could do it better. My spirit won today!
Is there a faith and trust issue you’re avoiding because your mind doesn’t want to do something hard? How about shutting the powerful voice of your mind down and instead, listen to your spirit? You might just amaze yourself!
